The RETAIN consortium held its third consortium meeting (Month 9) from 20 to 22 January 2026 in Barcelona, hosted by IRIS. Over two days, project partners met to review progress across work packages, participate in thematic workshops, and align on next steps for the continued development of the project.

Day 1 Workshops and Regulatory Updates
The meeting opened on Tuesday, 20 January, with a welcome from IRIS, followed by an introduction from the project coordinator. The session included a discussion on the evolving regulatory framework relevant to RETAIN, including PVC legislation, the Digital Product Passport (DPP), and related policy developments.
Interactive workshops (WP1) enabled partners to exchange perspectives on logistics and monitoring processes, identify critical control points within the value chain, and the creative workshop (WP2) that explored innovative approaches for the reuse of tarpaulins. The session generated valuable ideas and concepts, the outcomes of which will be shared through RETAIN’s communication channels - stay tuned on social media for updates.
Day 2 – Work Package Updates
Partners then presented the current status of the work packages:
WP1, WP2, WP3 and WP4 Each session covered achieved results, submitted and upcoming deliverables, future outlooks, planned activities and workshops.
The day concluded with a WP4 workshop, focusing on ecological feasibility. Discussions centered on the development of an impact matrix, the identification of potential applications, and the initiation of new tasks within the project.
The consortium was also privileged to visit IRIS, where partners gained valuable insights into its facilities and activities. Experiencing their pioneering work firsthand was both informative and inspiring for everyone involved.
Day 3 – Communication, Dissemination and Reporting
The final day, Thursday, 22 January, focused on communication, dissemination, and project management aspects:
WP7 presented its progress on communication and dissemination activities, including planned events and a dedicated discussion on RETAIN's visibility.
WP8, led by the coordinator, provided an update on project management, reporting requirements, and upcoming milestones.
Looking Ahead
The meeting concluded with a forward-looking discussion on next steps. We warmly thank IRIS for their exceptional hospitality and we look forward to the next consortium meeting, which will take place in May 2026 in Erfurt, Germany, hosted by KKF, where partners will continue project development and review progress towards upcoming milestones.
